Are you having trouble locating your Aadhaar Card? Lost or misplaced Aadhaar cards are a common occurrence.
If you have found yourself in this particular situation, worry not! The UIDAI has a convenient way for you to obtain a duplicate card both online and offline. The procedure to get a duplicate card is simple and quick. Even if you do not know your Aadhaar number, you can still make an application for a duplicate card.
While it may be ideal to have your acknowledgement slip when applying for a duplicate card, there may be a chance that you no longer have it with you. Even so, you will still be able to successfully apply for a duplicate card without your Aadhaar acknowledgement slip.
You can acquire a duplicate Aadhaar Card by following a convenient online procedure. Here is the process of obtaining an E-Aadhaar Card which is accepted everywhere:
Step 1: Head over to the official website of the UIDAI at myAadhaar - Unique Identification Authority of India | Government of India (uidai.gov.in)
Step 2: Select either of these options - ‘Aadhaar No. (UID)’ or ‘Enrolment No. (EID)’.
Step 3: You will have to enter your basic details and fill in a security code. Then click the option ‘Send OTP’.
Step 4: An OTP soon arrives on the phone number you have officially registered with the UIDAI. Fill in the OTP in the required fields.
Step 5: Press on the button that says ‘Login’, and your Aadhaar number will arrive on your email ID or your phone.
Step 6: You will see the confirmation of this on your screen.
This confirmation message mentions the Aadhaar number on your lost card. With this confirmation, you can easily apply for a duplicate card at the UIDAI website.

The offline method to apply for a duplicate card is to call the UIDAI toll-free number at 18001801947.
Step 1: You will hear a voice recording of a menu. Select the option to speak to an executive.
Step 2: Once the executive answers your call, you may request a duplicate card.
Step 3: Some questions may be asked by the executive, and this is to authenticate your identity.
Step 4: A brief verification will be done, and the process to initiate your duplicate card will start.
Step 5: Your card will be mailed to your residence.
Another simple way to get your duplicate card is through an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
Step 1: All you need to do is fill out a form. In case you don’t have your Aadhaar number, an executive at the centre can retrieve it.
Step 2: Even if you had not linked your phone number with your original Aadhaar Card, you could still get your details from the executive with your information.
Step 3: In such a case, the executive may take your biometrics once again. Once your request is processed, your Aadhaar Card will arrive at your residence shortly.
A duplicate card is issued by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) which is a government body that issues all Aadhaar cards. Hence, a duplicate card is valid.
You can get a duplicate by visiting the Aadhaar official website at Home - Unique Identification Authority of India | Government of India (uidai.gov.in), or by calling up the Aadhaar toll-free phone number. Furthermore, you may also obtain a duplicate card by visiting an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
