Google Pay, one of the most popular mobile wallets in the country, has recently partnered with various banks to provide a credit card facility. Currently, the facility is made available to limited customers only, but soon offers in the money sections will be rolled out, as per the official website.
If you are eligible for a Google Pay credit card, you would be able to see offers from their partner banks in the ‘Money’ section. Depending on the respective bank’s eligibility criteria and internal policies, the credit card eligibility to apply for different cards will vary.
Once you choose a card and your credit card application is approved, you can link the card to your Google Pay account to make transactions.
Click on the Credit Card button in the Money section
You can see the different credit cards with partner banks. Click on “More card benefits” to explore various credit card features and benefits offered
Once you have decided to apply for a credit card, click on ‘Apply Now’
Review your personal information and click on ‘Continue to proceed’.
Verify your card address for card delivery.
Go through the ‘Terms and Conditions’ and click on ‘Continue’ to submit your application.
It is important to note that the final approval for your credit card rests with the sole discretion of the bank. The bank will check your credit card eligibility and make an assessment. Ideally, the process could take up to 1-5 working days. Moreover, if you wish to close or cancel the credit card, you will have to initiate the process via the bank and not from the app.
Once your credit card application is approved, you will first have to physically take possession of it. The next step is to link it with Google Pay for online usage. This way, you can use the card for both physical as well as online transactions. When you are opting for online transactions, make sure your mobile’s NFC connection is switched on.
The card also provides an auto-debit feature. By availing this facility, you can pay parts of your bills from your account. Like traditional cards, this card can also help boost your credit score as long as you do not default on any credit card payments.
