The bank sets a specified credit limit for a customer after considering key variables such as income level, existing liabilities, and credit score. Usually, there are three types of credit card limits:
SBI Card Total Credit Limit: This is the maximum amount that you can spend on your credit card.
SBI Card Available Credit Limit: This is the amount available for usage at a particular point in time. For instance, if your maximum limit is ₹2 lakh and you spend ₹50,000, the available credit limit will be ₹1.5 lakh.
SBI Card Cash Limit: The SBI card cash limit again varies from one customer to another. Based on the type of card issued, various cash limits are prescribed. You must remember that withdrawal of cash through your credit card is subject to the applicability of interest rates along with a cash withdrawal fee.
Specific Credit Card Eligibility: Different SBI credit cards have different eligibility criteria that must be fulfilled to avail the card. This includes age, gross annual income, residency, etc. Depending on how well you satisfy your SBI credit card eligibility, your SBI card limit will be decided
Credit Score: This is another important parameter that the bank considers when deciding your credit card limit. Ideally, if you have a credit score of 750 or above, you can avail the SBI credit card maximum limit on the respective card variant.
Income-Debt Ratio: It is the ratio of all your monthly debts/payment divided by the gross monthly income. Higher the income-debt ratio, lower would be your chance to increase SBI credit card limit.
Other Credit Cards: The number of existing credit cards to your name also acts as a parameter that affects your credit card limit
Other Factors: Other factors such as your job nature, employment duration, existing debts/loans, etc are also taken into consideration while doing SBI credit card limit check.
