With growing prosperity in the country, the sales of smartphones are rising. People are upgrading to more expensive phones attracted by newer features and designs. India is one of the largest smartphone markets in the world and every company worth its salt wants a share of the pie. The premium segment of the market was primarily catered by Samsung, Apple and OnePlus, but a few exciting launches by Xiaomi, Oppo and Huawei in the last few months has opened up the segment. The cutthroat competition in the segment has forced companies to put their best foot forward.
In March, South Korean Samsung unveiled its latest flagship devices—the Samsung S10 series of Samsung S-series phones. Samsung launched Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10 Plus together. Introduced with different features and price points, all three models cater to distinct customer segments. It has to be noted that the technology major also announced a Galaxy S10 5G, but it has not been made available yet. The Samsung S10 review boils down to the three available models leading to an exercise to highlight the best Samsung S10 phones.
Check out the Samsung s10 review based on their features & specifications:
Samsung has been a pioneer in display technology with its brilliant AMOLED screens. When it comes to Samsung S10 specification and features, the dynamic AMOLED+ display on the S10 phones generates vivid and rich colours.
All three models come with screens of different sizes. The S10e sports a 5.8-inch screen, the Samsung S10 comes with a 6.1-inch display, while the Samsung S10 Plus is equipped with a 6.4-inch screen.
The S10 and S10 Plus models have a screen resolution of 3.040X1,440 pixels. But the more affordable S10e has a resolution of 2,280X1,080 pixels. One of the defining characteristics of these phones is the ‘hole punch’ display, which has the front camera directly integrated into the screen. The cut-outs for the cameras has allowed Samsung to further reduce the bezel size.
Samsung has introduced state-of-the-art built-in Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors in S10 and S10 Plus. Though it may sound like just another in-screen fingerprint sensor, Ultrasonic sensors are a big thing. These readers use acoustic vibrations to map not only the pattern of the fingerprints but also their 3D structure. This makes them much faster and secure than other sensor technologies. The flagship devices come with Gorilla Glass 6, which promise increased scratch and impact resistance.
A flagship device is expected to provide nothing short of perfect performance. The phone manufacturer has packed the Samsung S10 series phones with the most powerful processors available in the market. The Exynos 9820 Octa and the Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon are backed by a minimum of 6 GB RAM, going to 12 GB in the S10 Plus.
Samsung uses its in-house Exynos processors in Europe, Africa and most of Asia, while China and the US get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. The company claims these next-generation chipsets deliver 29 percent and 37 percent faster CPU and GPU performance respectively, compared to the Galaxy S9. The S10 series have the most stylish and intuitive user interface offered by Samsung. They come with an all-new ‘One UI’ software running on the latest Android 9.0 version.

Camera quality has become the most fiercely contested battle for phone manufacturers. Every new model comes with an improved set of lenses. Samsung S10 series is no different. The triple-lens camera module in S10 and S10 Plus is an improvement over S9 Plus primarily due to the addition of a new 16 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The slightly disappointing part is that the regular 12 MP and the 12 MP telephoto lens seem to have been continued from the Galaxy S9. The Galaxy S10e comes with a dual-lens 16 MP and 12 MP setup that gets the job done fairly well.
Most Samsung S10 reviews have noted improved image processing in all three devices. When it comes to the front-facing camera, the S10 Plus is a cut above the two. It comes with a dual 10 MP and 8 MP setup, while the S10e and S10 sport a single 10 MP sensor. Beyond clicking pictures, capturing videos is where Samsung S10 series outclasses other smartphones.
Both S10 and S10 Plus capture footage in HDR10+ format, an industry first. The dynamic format allows the camera to juggle between bright and dark areas of a scene simultaneously, producing stunning results.
When combined with the superb AMOLED+ display of the phones, the viewing experience is impeccable.
Battery backup has become a pressing issue for many customers. As screen sizes increase and processor capacity rises, the load on phone batteries has risen significantly.
The Korean giant has bulked up the battery capacity of Samsung S10 series, which comes after a three-year stagnation. The S10 Plus comes with a 4100 mAh battery, while the S10 is powered by a 3400 mAh battery. The smallest of the three, Galaxy S10e has a 3100 mAh battery. The company is promising a 24-hour battery life with juicier power sources.
In addition to better battery backup, all the three models support fast wireless charging like their predecessors.
The performance of the devices has improved, so has the battery backup. The display quality of Samsung S10 series is excellent. It is brighter than its predecessors and is more colour accurate. Even though the camera and image quality is great, it is not a significant improvement over its predecessors.
If you want to buy the best Samsung S10 phone, taking into account only the specifications, go for the S10 Plus. But if you have a tight budget, the S10e can save you Rs 23,000. The S10 Plus retails at Rs 74,000, the S10 at 62,000 and the S10e has been priced at Rs 51,000.
