I've been waiting for a long time. I initially considered the MDR-XB950B1 (predecessor). Thankfully my patience was rewarded.Thanks Bajaj EMI store

The Sony WH-XB900N over ear headphones are the real deal. For a slightly higher price than the aforementioned MDR headphones, you get:

The pros:
1. Great Bass (not as overpowering): You can tune your sound using the accompanying app on your phone.
2. Great Sound: Again, all fine tuned through the app.
3. Good design: Folds up and easy to pack. Ear pads are nicely cushioned.
4. Easy connectivity: With NFC, this makes it almost seamless
5. Great Battery Life: 30 hours of playback. This lasted me almost a month with 2 charges!
6. Decent Noise Cancellation: Not the best, but it holds up enough.
7. Has Alexa and Google Assistant integrated: If this is something you need. Personally, I didn't.

The cons:
1. Bluetooth is still version 4.2 - This is not too much of a pain honestly.
2. Not great for wearing beyond 2 hours. Ear pads tend to feel warm and moist because of the ear isolation
3. Noise cancellation is not as great as the WH-1000XM3, but then again, these headphones are geared towards bass heads. The noise cancellation holds up quite reasonably. However, if you're looking for total noise isolation and bass is not necessarily what you're looking for, the WH-1000XM3 is what you want.

Neutral:
Carry case is included. It's not much other than being light and polyester based. It won't offer much protection. You might consider getting your own. I have mine, which is why I'm neutral on this.

Verdict: These headphones are my jam! They hold up well and are fairly durable. Noise cancellation is good enough for me and I've tuned my sound to have just the right amount of bass.

Writing this review after 1 month of use.If you are in a hunt for premium,midrange,bass heavy and best in class audio quality headphones this is the way to go. After all he's the brother of XM3's. Dont forget to use Sony's headphone connect app it really does make a difference. Dont use it straight out of the box. Tune it the way you like. Noice cancellation is Great, shuts most of the noises. There is a hint of vibration when listening to bass heavy songs. Comes with aptx,aptx hd,DSEE,LDAC support. No latency at all while watching prime video,youtube or any other app. Its a theatre like experience.Leather cushions are comfortable for longer periods much better than XM3'S. Headcups are also spacious than XM3's. Type C charger is a boon. Battery life is also the same as claimed by Sony. If you place your right hand on the right side of the headphones it will mute the music and you will be able to listen to the other person. Nice touch. Touch controls are great. Double tap to pause. Swipe up to increase volume swipe down to lower down. I live in an unbelievably noisy place in Mumbai, and I was going insane before I bought these headphones. My neighbors are quite loud and noisy with their home theaters and audio systems. Also, our neighborhood is surrounded by a dense slum area populated by a lot of uneducated people who play really loud music that can be heard for miles.

Sony's sound quality is great in almost every product I've ever bought, so I won't focus on quality. Rather, I will focus on the noise canceling effectiveness in my review.

Overall noise canceling effectiveness: 3 / 5

Loud crappy gym music: 50-60% reduced ... manageable if you play your own music (NOTE - be careful with sweat from physical activity entering the headphone cups ... don't know how durable they are). I wipe them every 10 mins when I'm working out.

Loud noise ("music") from slum area: 50-60% reduced ... wish this could be better ... sometimes, I just give up and use earplugs instead

Neighbors home theater systems (esp. the bass): 80-90% reduced. Thank God for this ! Very useful for nighttime when some peace is desired.

Vacuum cleaner: 50-60% reduced

You can still hear sharp shrill sounds when wearing these headphones, e.g. the beeping of a microwave oven.

If I had more money, I would upgrade to the XM3 headphones also by Sony. But, these keep me somewhat sane in the insanely loud place where I live.

I was looking for best headphones with latest features like Bluetooth 4.2, BASS, Noise cancelling...etc
Although Sony WH-1000xM3 checked all the boxes for me, but the price and not so good BASS motivated me to search for other options. Sony WH-XB900N which shared many of the features of Sony WH-1000xM3 plus almost 10K cheaper appealed to me, So decided to purchase it.

Sony WH-XB900N are really good headphones with fine BASS, anyone who loves punch in their music will definitely enjoy. There is a supporting APP from Sony both for Android and IOS to tweak the fine settings for individual preferences. The audio quality is very good and worth the price.

Noise cancelling is another story, it looks like Sony added this feature with half heart as it is doesn't work as will as real noise cancelling should work. it will eliminate may be 70% background sound without music and with music 90% since the music will provide it's own isolation. but surely misses the 100% mark...so anyone with expectation for a good noise cancelling is up for a disappointment.

To summarize, they justify their price with following ratings

Build : 8.5/10
Sound : 9/10
NC : 7/10

Pure BASS lovers, go for it...best deal

These are a very nice set of headphones. I know people might do a lot of research before investing such a big amount, but if you are a bass head and love to hear a good balance of sounds then this headphones are for you.
Pros:
1. Great build quality and a premium finish. If you don't like matt finish then its not for you.
2. Amazing and mind-blowing bass.
3. The Sony app lets you play with it and tune it according to your needs.
4. The ear cushions are very very comfortable.
5. Battery backup as claimed by sony is 30hrs but i always got over 32hrs which is very impressive.
6. They provided the aux cable for situation where the battery dies and its a good touch.
7. Noise cancellation works well.

Cons:
1. There aren't many cons but long use can build up heat in your ears. Take some break and you should be fine.
2. Takes a long time to charge. It takes about 7hrs for a full charge (0 to 100).

I am coming from last gen XB-950N1 and this is a worthy upgrade in every way.

I like the familiar sony sound. This model has much better EQ control and base levels that actually lets you feel the difference. I didn't go for 1000mx for the reason that I wanted the Sony's XB sound. I like the bass and I'm so happy it is there!!
And it's not just bass, all the mids and highs are crystal clear, but bass is ofcourse more punchy.

The active noise cancellation is effective. You can manually control it to block as much noise as you want. It also has a feature to "guess" in what type of environment you are and adjust ambient noise automatically (I did not find it very accurate).
And covering the right ear cup with your palm lets the entire ambient sound get in. This is such a useful quick way to listen to anyone trying to talk to you or listen to any announcements nearby.

The touch controls take a couple of days to get used to. They work well.

This headphone has an amazing sound output and I don't think if you'll ever need more bass than this. Voice is way better in comparison to the competition. Gesture based navigation is very convenient and ear cups are very comfortable.
Even if you use use you headphones all the time they tend to give you a little over 30 hours i.e. 4 days in my case. ANC on these headphones is not that all good although it works well in environment with low frequency noise but, if you play music at 60 % of the volume you'll miss most of the noise. I don't think if you need to buy the top of the line 1000 series if you don't travel a lot since they can easily deal with most of the noises. I would've definitely liked it they supported multi-connect I don't find any other problem with these headphones.

First of i want to start with, its sony, so u get what you expect.
The sound quality is outstanding. No doubt about that.
Noise cancellation is perfect, esp with the touch panel in the right side. It is such an awesome feature, like it was just made for me. It can also adjust the noise cancellation with the surroundings, after u download the app.
Cups perfectly fit, no pain
Foldable and the bag provided makes it good for handling. I would have loved if they gave a hard case,but this is also fine for the price.
Then looks, the matte finish is so enticing, it very beautiful and the edges are so smooth.
Basically I am in love with this product,
kudos to sony fr making this at an affordable price and to Bajaj EMI store fr the discount.

1. Amazing ANC,
2. Loved the NFC; While connected to the laptop I'll just touch the phone on the left ear and boom, audio source switched to my phone, felt cool.
3. Touch controls are perfect especially the palm trick.

But,
1. The Mic is muted sometimes while taking calls, as if it has something to do with the noice cancellation. It works at times, but i must say it's unreliable if you are expecting a total hands free experience.

2. I set the custome button to switch between ANC on/off but it goes back to Google assistant, after a restart I guess.

3. I wish it had some cool colour variations,

4. Usb cable could have been longer
