All-India Permit Renewal Fees

All vehicle permits are valid for a period of five years. The only exceptions to this rule are if a temporary vahan permit has been issued or if a special permit has been issued under subsection (8) of Section 88.

The permit renewal fees, even if you choose to get an all-India permit online, remains the same. It is essential to start the renewal process for your vehicle permit before it expires. The application for your vahan permit has to be submitted along with the fees and other requisite documents 15 days before your existing permit is due to expire.

If you are unable to have the permit renewed, you will be liable to penalties based on your vehicle type.

Replacement of a Vehicle

If you have a permit for your vehicle but need to replace your vehicle, the government has provided for enough provisions to do so conveniently. You can hold onto the same permit even if you replace your existing vehicle with a vehicle of the same nature and type.

The government provides four months to replace the vehicle to continue using the issued permit. The four months start from the day the permit fees are deposited. However, if the four-month period expires without you correctly replacing the vehicle, there are fees you are liable to pay. Read on below to learn about these fees.
