Being a mountainous state, Himachal Pradesh requires you to be extra careful if you’re driving on hilly roads. It is very important to follow the traffic rules in place. In case of any violation, you may receive an e-challan from the traffic police in the state. Fines for traffic violation in the state can range from Rs. 1,000 for overspeeding or riding without a helmet or seatbelt, to Rs. 10,000 for obstructing emergency vehicles.
Offenders can check the e-challan status online and also pay the fines due via the internet. There are two ways in which you can pay an e-challan in Himachal Pradesh, namely through the Parivahan website or via the Himachal Pradesh E Challan Portal.
