Exclusions in Individual Travel Insurance

  • Losses arising from accidents as a driver on motorized vehicles unless at the time of the accident the insured is in possession of a current full international driving license and while riding a two-wheeler is wearing a safety crash helmet.

  • Pregnancy resulting in childbirth, miscarriage, abortion, termination of pregnancy or complication arising out of any of the foregoing.

  • Losses arising directly or indirectly from manual work or hazardous occupations, self-exposure to needless peril (except in an attempt to save human life), or if engaging in any criminal or illegal act.

  • Any medical condition or complication which existed before the commencement of the policy period, or for which care, treatment or advice was sought, recommended by or received from a physician.

  • Loss or damage to the insured’s passport as a result of confiscation or detention by customs, police or any other authority.

  • Loss of passport which is not reported to the appropriate police authority within 24 hours of the discovery of the loss, and in respect of which an official report has not been obtained.

  • Loss caused by the insured’s failure to take reasonable steps to guard against the loss of the passport.

  • The insurer will not pay for any departure which is delayed as a result of the insured or any other person who is responsible for the travel arrangements and failed to check-in correctly as required by the airline.

  • The insurer will not pay for any delayed departure caused by a strike or industrial action known to exist or was anticipated at the time the trip was booked.

  • The insurer will not pay for any delay if the aircraft is taken out of service on the instructions of the Civil Aviation Authority or other competent statutory authority except due to bad weather conditions.

  • The insurer will not pay for any bail amount where the insured has been charged for breaking the law with criminal intent.

  • The insurer will not pay for any bail amount where the insured has been charged for over speeding in a vehicle.

  • The insurer will not pay for any deductible mentioned in the Schedule (pertaining to loss of laptop).

  • The insurer will not pay for any electrical or mechanical breakdown of the laptop.

  • The insurer will not pay for loss of software or data in the laptop and any consequential loss.

  • The insurer will not pay for loss or damage arising from detention, confiscation, destruction or requisition by or under the order of any government and/or public or local authority.

  • Congenital anomalies or any complications or conditions arising there from.

  • Any Fertility, sub fertility, impotence, assisted conception operation or sterilization procedure.

    For Trip Delay - If the delay is more than 6 hours, the insured must contact the authorities of the concerned airlines, lodge a complaint and obtain a PIR (Property Irregularity Report) report from them.

  • Cancellation of Policy before Start Date - Premature

    • You must inform the insurance company in writing/e-mail requesting cancellation of the policy. The e-mail should contain the policy/schedule number.
    • A cancellation fee of Rs. 250/- will be charged.

  • Cancellation of Policy after the Start Date – If the Insured has not traveled

    You must inform the insurance company in writing/e-mail requesting cancellation of the policy. The e-mail should contain the policy/schedule number along with the following details.

    • Proof that the he/she has not traveled overseas.
    • Photocopy or scanned copy of passport (all pages including ones that are blank).
    • Visa rejection letter in the event visa refusal by the respective embassy.

    Based on the approval of the underwriters, the policy will be cancelled within one working day after receiving an email and the required documents from the insured.

  • Cancellation of Policy after the Start Date – If the Insured has traveled

    In case of any early return of the insured person prior to expiry of the policy period, the company will refund premium at the rates shown in below table (subject to no claims being incurred on the policy).
