How to Download an E-PAN Card

Every business undertaking financial transactions in India is assigned a PAN (or Permanent Account Number) which is a 10-digit alphanumeric designation. Any tax-paying entity, whether an organisation or individual, must have a PAN card, or an ePAN card. Through the UTIITSL or NSDL websites, you can submit an application for a PAN card. Within 45 days of application, the hardcopy of the PAN card will be delivered to the address listed on the Form 49A. The ePAN card, however, is available for online download and can be used everywhere as identification.


The PAN information of the cardholder is contained on an electronic PAN card, or ePAN card. Either the UTIITSL portal or the NSDL portal can be used for ePan card download. ePAN card can be used for any e-verification that calls for a PAN card to be presented and contains the cardholder's PAN. The following details are mentioned on a ePAN card:


  • Name

  • Permanent account number

  • Name of your father

  • Date of Birth

  • Photograph

  • Gender

  • QR Code

  • Signature

It is important to note that having more than a single PAN card is illegal. A fine of as much as ₹10,000 may be imposed on a person who is discovered to be in possession of several PAN cards. If you are an individual taxpayer who has an Aadhaar card but have not yet received a PAN card, you can use the Instant ePAN service. You can use this pre-login service and the steps given below to obtain your ePAN card:


  1. With the use of Aadhaar and your mobile number linked to Aadhaar, you can obtain a digitally signed PAN in electronic format for free.

  2. Update PAN information according to Aadhaar e-KYC

  3. After PAN allocation or update, create an e-Filing account as per your e-KYC information.

  4. Check the status of any pending e-PAN requests or download your e-PAN before or after signing in to the e-Filing pan card download site.

Online download of ePAN card is available through the UTIITSL and NSDL portals. If you have previously applied for PAN using the NSDL portal, you may download your ePAN card from that platform. In such a case, you must first submit an application for PAN card reprint via UTIITSL portal in order to download an ePAN card; otherwise, you would not be able to do so.


If you are a new applicant or an applicant who has asked for a correction in the PAN card information, within a month of the issuing of the PAN card, you may download your ePAN card without charge. For each download request, UTIITSL charges an extra price of ₹8.26 (taxes included).

Here is the step-by-step guide for instant ePAN Download

1. Click Instant e-PAN on the homepage of the e-Filing pan card download portal.


2.Choose Get New e-PAN from the e-PAN page.



3. Insert the 12-digit Aadhaar number, check the I confirm that box, and click Continue on the Get New e-PAN page.



4. Select "I have read the consent terms" on the OTP validation page and proceed further. Then click Next.



5. Click Continue after entering the 6-digit OTP that was sent to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number and checking the box to confirm the Aadhaar information with UIDAI.


Here are the things you need to remember:


  • OTP remains valid only for 15 minutes.

  • You would have only three chances to enter the proper OTP.

  • You can see when the OTP will expire thanks to the on-screen OTP expiry countdown timer.

  • A new OTP would be created and sent after selecting Resend OTP.


6. Choose the I Accept that checkbox on the Validate Aadhaar Details window, then click Continue.


Here are the things that you need to take note of:


  • It is not a compulsion to link or validate your Aadhaar-registered email address.

  • Click Validate Email if your Aadhaar email ID has been updated but not yet verified.

  • Enter the 6-digit OTP that was sent to the mobile number associated with your Aadhaar on the Validate Email ID webpage, and then click Continue.

  • Select Link Email ID if you haven't updated your Aadhaar email address. Enter the 6-digit OTP that was sent to the mobile number associated with your Aadhaar on the Validate Email ID webpage, and then click Continue.


An acknowledgement number and a success message are shown following a successful submission. Please remember your Acknowledgement ID for reference in the future. A confirmation message will also be sent to the mobile number associated with your Aadhaar.


Download an ePAN Card from the NSDL Portal

The ePAN card can be downloaded in one of two ways from the NSDL portal:


  • Use the Acknowledgement Number to get ePAN

  • Use PAN to download ePAN


After a month of application, NSDL prohibits you from downloading the ePAN card for new PAN cards or PAN card corrections/modifications.


When filling out the form, both for a new application and a correction, you have the option to forgo receiving a printed copy of your PAN card and instead apply only for an ePAN card. It is required in these circumstances to provide the email address to which the ePAN card would be sent.

Procedure for Online PAN Card Download with Acknowledgement Number

By using the NSDL portal, you can download an ePAN card by following the instructions below:


  1. To obtain a PAN card using an Acknowledgement number, go to the NSDL PAN portal.

  2. After providing the required information, including the Acknowledgement number received after you submit your PAN card application, click "Generate OTP."

  3. To download your ePAN, enter the OTP provided and click the "Validate" button.

  4. To immediately obtain the ePAN card, click "Download PDF."

Procedure for Online PAN Card Download with Date of Birth and PAN

By providing the PAN and birthdate, you can download the ePAN card. For the same, follow the directions listed below:


  1. Go to the ePAN downloading website

  2. Fill out the form with the necessary information, such as your PAN and GSTN (optional)

  3. Now enter the security code provided and press "Submit" to get the free ePAN card.

Download a Duplicate ePAN card with Aadhaar

Another option for downloading duplicate PAN cards is the reprint PAN card feature made available by NSDL e-Gov using an Aadhaar card. To get a PAN card reprint, follow these steps:


  1. Visit the NSDL official portal and go to “Request for Reprint” for your PAN card.

  2. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar numbers in (only for individuals)

  3. Enter your date of birth.

  4. Put the GSTIN number (optional).

  5. Read the declaration, accept it, then type the captcha code to confirm it.

  6. A new page displaying your PAN Card's details will show on the screen after you click the "Submit" button.

  7. The OTP will be delivered to the selected option when you scroll down and choose whether to get it on your email address, mobile number, or both.

  8. The request to reprint your PAN Card will be sent to the NSDL division after you type the OTP and click the "Validate" button.

Download an ePAN Card from the UTIITSL Portal


You may make your PAN card applications through an alternative PAN application portal called UTIITSL and, if necessary, make PAN card adjustments there. If you use the UTIITSL portal to make an application, you will also have the option for ePAN card download online. There is no additional price if the ePAN is obtained within a month of the PAN card's issuance.


Follow the instructions below to download the ePAN card via the UTIITSL portal:


  • Visit the UTIITSL ePAN downloading portal.

  • To submit the application, enter the necessary information, including your PAN, date of birth or incorporation, GSTIN (if applicable), and security code.

  • Verify that the mobile phone number and email address listed alongside the PAN are accurate. Enter the security code, and then check the declaration box.

1. You can choose to send an OTP to both an email address and a mobile number.


2. The chosen source receives an OTP.

  • Type in the OTP, then click "Submit."

  • The user would be instructed to make an electronic payment of ₹8.26 if the PAN issuance time is longer than one month.
