What’s Covered?

As you can understand from the name, six critical illnesses are covered under the 6 Critical Illness Benefit policy. They are as follows:

Heart Valve Replacement

Anatomically, valves are structures that help in unidirectional blood flow to and from the heart. However, in some cases, the valves may not function properly and give rise to different complications. Situations like this give rise to the need for heart valve replacement, in which the defective valve is either corrected or replaced.

Cancer Treatment

Uncontrolled growth of cells result in a condition called cancer. Tumours, malignant in nature, characterise most cancers. These tumours possess the ability to spread all over the body from their location.

Kidney Transplant

Kidney transplant refers to the surgical method of removing a non-functional liver and replacing it with a functional one received from a donor. Kidney transplants are usually opted for at the last stages of renal failure.

Lung Transplant

Usually performed at the last stages of lung diseases, a lung transplant is similar to a kidney transplant. In this case, a non-functional lung is removed by surgeons, and a healthy donor lung is provided in its place.

Liver Transplant

Similar to heart and kidney transplants, liver transplant surgeries are performed to replace a deteriorating liver with a healthy one. However, unlike the previous two transplants, just a piece of a healthy liver can also be transplanted. This surgery is recommended at the last stages of liver disease.

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

This surgery is performed on individuals with severe coronary heart diseases resulting in plaque build-up in the coronary arteries. This build-up prevents oxygen from reaching the heart, which might cause heart attacks. In coronary artery bypass surgery, surgeons introduce a healthy artery to the blocked one to ensure the heart gets its oxygen.
