What's Covered Under the Surgery Education Fund Benefit

  • Child’s Education

    The sum insured will be paid if the subscriber suffers an illness or injury caused by accident covered under the policy and needs to undergo surgical procedure that directly results in permanent total disablement. The accident and/or illness must occur within the policy year. The payout will be as specified in the policy and will be given irrespective of whether the child or children are insured.

Waiting Period for Specific Diseases and Procedures

A waiting period from the inception date specified in the policy document or insurance certificate shall be considered for any treatments, medical or surgical expenses, or other complications resulting during treatment.

 

 The waiting periods shall apply to the following diseases as per the durations mentioned in the policy document or insurance certificate:

 

a) Cataract

 

b) Hysterectomy for menorrhagia, fibromyoma or prolapse of uterus unless necessitated by malignancy myomectomy for fibroids

 

c) Knee replacement surgery (other than that caused by an accident), gout, rheumatism, osteoarthritis,non-infectious arthritis  and osteoporosis, joint replacement surgery (other than that caused by an accident), prolapse of intervertebral discs (other than that caused by an accident), all vertebrae disorders, including but not limited to spondylitis, spondylosis, spondylolisthesis, congenital internal. 

 

d) Varicose ulcers and varicose veins

 

e) Biliary systems and stones in the urinary urogenital, including calculus diseases.

 

f) Benign prostate hypertrophy and all types of hydrocele

 

g) Fissure, fistula in anus, pilonidal sinus, piles, all types of hernia, haemorrhoids and an abscess related to the anal region

 

h) Chronic suppurative otitis media, sinusitis and related disorders, deviated nasal septum, surgery on tonsils/adenoids, nose and throat disorder or surgery, tympanoplasty and any other benign ear

 

i) Gastric and duodenal ulcer, polycystic ovarian diseases, any cysts/nodules/polyps/internal tumours/skin tumours and any breast lumps (unless malignant)

 

j) Any surgery of the genito-urinary system unless necessitated by malignancy

 

If these diseases are pre-existing at the time of the proposal or subsequently found to be pre-existing, the pre-existing disease waiting periods as mentioned in the policy document or certificate of insurance shall apply.
