Understand how the SBM ZET Credit Card billing cycle works, including statement dates, due dates, grace period, and payment timelines.

The SBM ZET Credit Card billing cycle determines when your monthly statement is generated, how much you need to pay, and by when. Knowing these timelines helps you avoid interest, late fees, and negative credit score impact.
A billing cycle is the fixed period during which your credit card transactions are recorded for statement generation.
Key points you should know:
A standard credit card billing cycle usually runs for 28 to 31 days
All purchases, UPI payments, cash withdrawals, and applicable charges made during this period are included in one statement
At the end of the cycle, SBM Bank generates your monthly credit card statement
The statement summarises your previous balance, new transactions, fees, payments received, and payable amounts
Once the billing cycle ends, no further transactions are added to that statement. Any new spends move to the next cycle automatically.
Your statement closing date marks the end of each billing cycle and determines which transactions appear in your monthly bill.
Here is how it works:
SBM ZET Credit Card statements are generated once every month
The statement date is visible in the ZET app and included in your email statement
You may be allowed a one‑time change to the statement date from the profile section of the ZET app
Once changed, the statement date remains fixed going forward
Your statement is sent to your registered email ID and can also be accessed and downloaded through the ZET app. If there are no transactions during a billing cycle, your statement will reflect “no spends” for that month.
Your payment due date is the last day by which you must make at least the minimum payment to keep your account in good standing.
Here is how the due date works:
The payment due date usually falls 15 to 20 days after the statement closing date
This window forms part of the credit card’s interest‑free period
The exact due date is clearly mentioned on your monthly statement and in the ZET app
Payments must be credited by this date, not merely initiated, to be treated as on‑time
If you pay the Total Amount Due by the due date, you remain fully within the interest‑free period. Missing the due date can result in late fees and interest charges.
Your monthly statement shows two key payable amounts: the Minimum Amount Due and the Total Amount Due.
Minimum Amount Due (MAD) refers to the lowest payment you must make to avoid late payment charges.
It typically includes:
Around 5% of the outstanding balance, plus
Any overdue amounts from earlier cycles, and
Any amount that exceeds your credit limit
Paying only the MAD prevents late fees but does not stop interest from applying to the remaining balance. The unpaid amount carries forward to the next billing cycle and increases your overall cost.
Total Amount Due is the full outstanding balance on your statement. Paying this amount:
Clears all dues for that billing cycle
Keeps you within the interest‑free period
Helps maintain better credit score discipline
Consistently paying the total amount due is the most cost‑effective way to manage your credit card usage.
The grace period refers to the time you get to pay your dues without being charged interest.
For the SBM ZET Credit Card:
You get an interest‑free period of up to 45 days on retail transactions
The exact number of interest‑free days depends on when a transaction is made within the billing cycle
The payment due date is 15 days after the statement date
An additional 3‑day grace buffer may apply, allowing the free credit window to extend up to 48 days in some cases
It is important to note:
The full interest‑free period applies only if you paid the previous month’s Total Amount Due in full
If any amount was carried forward from the earlier cycle, the interest‑free benefit is not available
Interest starts accruing on the outstanding balance after the due date if the total dues are not cleared
Paying the Total Amount Due on or before the due date ensures you benefit fully from the grace period and avoid interest charges.
Your billing cycle directly influences how your credit behaviour is reported to credit bureaus.
Here is how it affects your credit score:
Your outstanding balance at statement generation is reported as credit utilisation
Using a large portion of your available limit during the billing cycle can increase your utilisation ratio
Keeping utilisation below 30% of your credit limit is generally considered healthy for credit scoring
On‑time payments, especially paying the Total Amount Due, reflect positively on your repayment discipline
Missing even the Minimum Amount Due may result in delinquency reporting and negatively impact your credit score
SBM Bank shares cardholder data with credit information companies on a monthly basis. Maintaining payment discipline within each billing cycle is critical for long‑term credit health.

Interest is charged on the outstanding balance if you do not pay the Total Amount Due by the due date. The unpaid amount carries forward to the next billing cycle and accrues interest daily until cleared.
