As the use of Aadhaar for many services becomes more and more pronounced, it has become more necessary than ever to ensure that all your Aadhaar details are up to date. This includes linking your mobile number with your Aadhaar to make the most of all Aadhaar-related services and to use the mAadhaar app and the Self Service Update Portal. We discuss how you can link your mobile number to your Aadhaar.

Here’s how you can link your mobile number to your Aadhaar card through an offline mode. Follow these steps closely:

• Step 1: Find out where your nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre is located. You can find it here - appointments.uidai.gov.in

• Step 2: Enter your mobile number in the Aadhaar enrolment form if you are new to the UIDAI’s Aadhaar ecosystem OR fill the Aadhaar correction form if you need to update your existing mobile number. 

• Step 3: Click on ‘Submit’.

• Step 4: Record your biometrics like iris and fingerprints.

• Step 5: Make the payment.

• Step 6: Receive an acknowledgement slip from the Aadhaar executive.

• Step 7: Use the update request number (URN) to check on the status of your Aadhaar update.

• Step 8: You can also track your status by dialling the 1947 toll-free number.

• Step 9: You need not get another Aadhaar card or Aadhaar number after updating your mobile number. 

• Step 10: Once the mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar, you will start receiving OTPs for all the Aadhaar-related services.

You can also use the interactive voice response system (IVR) to link your mobile number with your Aadhaar. Here’s how you can do it:

• Step 1: Dial the toll-free number 14546.

• Step 2: Choose whether your residential status is Indian or NRI.

• Step 3: Re-verify your Aadhaar by pressing 1.

• Step 4: Input your Aadhaar number.

• Step 5: Press 1 to confirm.

• Step 6: Receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.

• Step 7: Allow the IVR operator to get your name, birthdate and photo from UIDAI.

• Step 8: The IVR will tell you the last 4 digits of your mobile number.

• Step 9: If the number is correct, enter the OTP.

• Step 10: Press 1 to complete verification.

If you are still using your old outdated mobile number on your Aadhaar card, you will have to update it to your new number to receive OTPs for all major Aadhaar-related services. Here’s how you can update your new mobile number on your Aadhaar.

• Step 1: Go to the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre.

• Step 2: Complete the Aadhaar enrolment form with updated details.

• Step 3: State your new mobile number in the form.

• Step 4: Submit your form to the Aadhaar enrolment executive.

• Step 5: Record your biometric details for re-verification.

• Step 6: Pay the executive a certain fee for their services.

You don't have to provide other documents for this simple updation process.

The process to link a mobile number to an Aadhaar card online is quite simple and thus, you are not required to submit multiple documents. The only document you require is a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar card.

Here’s how you can book an appointment to link your mobile number to your Aadhaar card online:

• Step 1: Choose the centre near you.

• Step 2: Click on ‘Proceed’ to book your appointment.

• Step 3: Click on Aadhaar update and not New Aadhaar.

• Step 4: Enter your mobile number and captcha.

• Step 5: Enter the OTP sent on your mobile.

• Step 6: Once the number is successfully authenticated, fill out the required details and submit the form.

• Step 7: Choose the date and time of your appointment on the Manage appointment tab.
