How to Link Aadhaar with UAN and EPF Account

Section 142 of the Social Security Code 2020 mandates that employees link their Employee Provident Fund (EPF) accounts with their Aadhaar cards. Every EPF account is assigned a Universal Account Number (UAN), which must be seeded with the employee's 12-digit Aadhaar number. This linking offers various benefits, including easier access to EPF services and faster processing of claims. 

You can link your UAN with Aadhaar using any of the following methods:

• Through the EPFO website
  

• By visiting the nearest EPFO office
  

• Using the UMANG app
  

• Through OTP verification on the e-KYC portal of EPFO
  

• Using biometric credentials at the EPFO office

You can easily link your Aadhaar Card with your EPF account online on the official EPFO website by following the below-mentioned steps:

1. Visit the official EPFO website - epfindia.gov.in.
   

2. Use your UAN and password to log into your account.
   

3. Go to 'Manage' and click on the 'KYC' option.
   

4. Now, click on 'Aadhaar', enter your Aadhaar number and name and click on 'Save'.
   

5. Once your details have been verified, your Aadhaar will be linked to your EPF account. You will also be able to see the 'Verified' mark against your Aadhaar details.

Employees who are not comfortable with the online mode can link their Aadhaar card with their EPF account by visiting their nearest EPFO office. Steps to link Aadhaar with EPF account in the offline mode are:

1. Obtain the application form for 'Aadhaar Seeding' from the EPFO office
   

2. Fill in your UAN, Aadhaar and all other details
   

3. Attach self-attested copies of your UAN, PAN and Aadhaar with the form
   

4. Submit the form at any EPFO office/ Common Service Centre outlets
   

5. Once verification is successfully completed, your EPF-Aadhaar link will be confirmed
   

6. Finally, a message of successful linking will be sent to your registered mobile number.

UMANG -Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance is a Government of India initiative. You can easily link your Aadhaar with your EPF account through the UMANG app by following the steps below:

1. First, download the UMANG App (from Google Play Store/ Apple Store)
   

2. Enter your registered mobile number
   

3. Login either using the 'MPIN' or using OTP
   

4. Go to the 'All Services' tab and select 'EPFO'
   

5. Under the EPF section, click on 'e-KYC services'
   

6. Select the 'Aadhaar Seeding' option under the 'e-KYC Services'
   

7. Now enter your UAN and click on 'Get OTP'
   

8. You will now get an OTP on the mobile number registered with your EPF Account
   

9. Enter your Aadhaar details and an OTP will once again be sent to your registered mobile number and email address
   

10. Upon OTP verification, your UAN will be successfully linked with your Aadhaar number

You can also link your Aadhaar through OTP-based verification on the e-KYC portal on the EPFO website. You need to follow the steps below to link your Aadhaar with your EPF account using the OTP-based verification:

1. Visit the official EPFO website - epfindia.gov.in
   

2. Now, select 'Link UAN Aadhaar' from the 'EPFO Members' menu
   

3. Enter your UAN and your registered mobile number. You will receive an OTP on your mobile
   

4. Enter the OTP received in the designated space on the next page and click on 'Submit'
   

5. Now, on the next page, enter your Aadhaar number. Again, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address
   

6. Enter the OTP received and the captcha text and click on the 'Submit' button
   

7. Once your details are verified with the UIDAI data, your Aadhaar number will be successfully linked with your EPF account

You can also link your Aadhaar number with your EPF account using your biometric credentials through e-KYC on the EPFO portal by following the below-mentioned steps:

1. Visit the official EPFO website and select 'Link UAN Aadhaar' from the 'EPFO Members' menu
   

2. Enter your registered mobile number and UAN number in the designated space. An OTP will be sent to your mobile number
   

3. Enter the OTP received and click on 'Submit'
   

4. Now, on the next page, enter your Aadhaar number
   

5. Select the 'Using Biometrics' option for Aadhaar verification
   

6. Your biometrics will be collected using the connected registered biometrics device
   

7. Finally, type the captcha and click on 'Submit'
   

8. Your details will now be verified with the UIDAI data. Upon successful verification, your Aadhaar will be linked with your EPF account.

Linking your Aadhaar with your EPF account through your employer is a simple offline process.

1. Obtain the Aadhaar seeding application form from your employer or the nearest EPFO office
   

2. Complete the form with your Universal Account Number (UAN), Aadhaar number, and other necessary details
   

3. Attach self-attested copies of your Aadhaar card and UAN
   

4. Submit the filled application form along with the documents to your employer
   

5. Your employer will verify the details and forward them to EPFO for linking
   

6. After EPFO verification, you will receive an SMS confirmation on your registered mobile number

If you need to update or correct details in your EPF profile, including linking your Aadhaar, you can use the Joint Declaration form.

1. Log in to the EPFO member portal with your UAN and password
   

2. Go to the ‘Manage’ tab and select the ‘Joint Declaration’ option
   

3. Fill in the Joint Declaration form with your Aadhaar number and any other updated details
   

4. Attach supporting documents such as your Aadhaar card and PAN card
   

5. Submit the form online via the EPFO portal, or physically submit it to the EPFO office, if needed
   

6. Your employer will authenticate the request, and EPFO will process it
   

7. Once approved, your Aadhaar will be linked with your EPF account

You can check your Aadhaar number linked with your EPF account on the EPFO portal by following the steps given below:

1. Visit the official EPFO website and log in using your UAN and password
   

2. You can find the Aadhaar number linked with your EPF account on the member's homepage
   

3. If 'Verified ( DEMOGRAPHIC)' is mentioned against your Aadhaar number, your Aadhaar number is linked with your EPF account

The EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organisation) has requested its members to link their EPF account and Aadhaar for ease in verifying their details. The benefits of the EPF-Aadhar linking are:

When your Aadhaar is linked with your EPF and UAN, the chances of mistakes and discrepancies are significantly less, as your information is consistent with your Aadhaar card details

You can easily withdraw your PF online in a hassle-free manner if your Aadhaar is linked to your EPF account

To successfully link your Aadhaar with your UAN account, ensure you have the following documents ready:

• Aadhaar Card
  

  • A self-attested copy of your Aadhaar card, which is mandatory for the linking process.
    

• Universal Account Number (UAN)
  

  • Your UAN, which you can find on your salary slip or EPF passbook.
    

• Self-attested Copy of PAN Card (if applicable)
  

  • If your PAN card details are required for verification, provide a self-attested copy.
    

• Passport-sized Photograph (if required)
  

  • Some employers or EPFO offices may request a passport-sized photograph for identification purposes.
    

• Bank Account Details (if required for verification)
  

  • A copy of your bank account statement or canceled cheque may be requested to ensure accurate payment details are linked.
