PMJAY Scheme - Inclusions and Exclusions
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) or Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a government health scheme that covers around 1,400 procedures, pre-hospitalisation expenses up to 3 days, post-hospitalisation expenses up to 15 days, OT expenses, and other related expenses.
The scheme provides health coverage for certain critical illnesses like prostate cancer, skull base surgery, carotid angioplasty, pulmonary valve replacement, double valve replacement, coronary artery bypass grafting, anterior spine fixation, and tissue expander (related to disfigurement caused by burns).
While we speak about the scope of coverage of the PMJAY scheme, we must also know about the exclusions of this health plan. Some of the exclusions of the PMJAY scheme are OPD expenses, organ transplants, drug rehabilitation, cosmetic-related procedures, fertility-related procedures, and individual diagnostics (evaluation).
