Kerala RTO

To keep a track of vehicles on Indian roads, each state in India has designated Road transport offices (RTO) that helps to ensure that the rules and regulations as mentioned in the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 are followed diligently. The Road transport office in Kerala was also established keeping this in mind. Headed by the Transport commissioner, Kerala RTO falls under the Kerala motor vehicle department. It has 18 distinct RTO offices to oversee the movement of passengers and goods, road network development, and implementation of new technology as well as techniques in the management of motor vehicles.

Functions of Kerala Motor Vehicle Department

The Regional transport office or MVD Kerala helps to carry out the following tasks:

4. Inspecting vehicles at check posts and ensuring they follow road safety rules.

5. Upgradation of vehicles as per environmental standards such as CNG or LPG conversion or at PUC testing centres.
