How to Register a Vehicle in Gurgaon?

As per the union government’s rules, registration of all types of vehicles is a compulsory process. It is illegal to run any vehicle on the roads without a registration number. Through registration, the RTOs provide a unique identification number to the vehicle. Any registered vehicle includes information such as the full name of the owner, chassis number, body type, engine number, fuel type, vehicle colour, manufacturer and vehicle model details etc.

The following six types of vehicles are registered in Gurgaon:

  1. Two-wheeler without gear/FVG vehicles : This category of vehicles comprises motorcycles and scooters of any engine capacity, without gears.
  2. MC 50cc : This category includes vehicles, especially two-wheelers, with an engine capacity of less than 50cc.
  3. MC EX50cc: This category comprises all types of vehicles, including two-wheelers and Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) such as cars, with an engine capacity of more than 50cc.
  4. LMV-Non Transport (NT) : This class is for all types of Light Motor Vehicles - such as cars, jeeps etc. - which are not used for commercial purposes.
  5. Heavy Goods Motor vehicles (HGMV) : This category includes heavy vehicles such as trucks and trailers, being used for carrying goods.
  6. Heavy Passenger Motor Vehicle (HPMV) : All commercial heavy passenger vehicles, like buses with an all India permit, are included in this category.

For getting permanent registration, you are required to submit the form 20, 21 and 22 at the nearest RTO office along with the requisite documents.
