Detailed List of Documents Required for Aadhaar Card

While applying for a new Aadhaar card online, you are required to submit documents in four categories. Below is the list of documents required for an Aadhaar card.

1. Documents required as Proof of Identity

The documents you use as identity proof should contain your name and photograph. Here is the list of documents that you can provide as proof of your identity. 

  • Voter Id

  • PAN card

  • Ration  card

  • Passport

  • Driving licence

  • NREGS job card

  • Any government-issued photo identity card 

  • PSU-issued service photo identity card

  • Photo identity card issued by an eminent and government-recognised educational institute

  • Arms licence

  • Certificate from an authority at a recognised educational institute, such as Superintendent, Marton, Warden, or the Head of the Institution

  • Certificate of identity with photograph issued by the Mukhiya or Village Panchayat Head

2. Documents required as proof of Date of Birth

Here is the list of documents that you may use as your date of birth proof.

  • Birth certificate

  • Bank passbook

  • PAN card

  • Educational marksheets issued by any government or board university

  • Passport

  • SSLC/STC (School Transfer Certificate) having name and date of birth

  • Birth certificate issued by Group A Gazetted officer on letterhead

  • Photo identity card having DOB details, issued by recognised educational institutions

  • A certificate/identity card having photograph and DOB details duly signed and issued by a government authority

  • Government photo identity card having DOB details 

  • Central or state pension payment order

  • CGSHA/SGHS photo identity card having DOB details

3. Documents required as  Proof of Relationship

This type of documentation is required if a minor applies for an Aadhaar card. In order to acquire it, he/she must produce a few documents proving his/her relationship with the family's head. Below are the details about the same.

  • PDS (Public Distribution System) card

  • Army canteen card

  • Passport

  • MNREGA job card

  • Medical card issued by the state government, ECHS, CGHS, or ESIC

  • Pension card

  • Any family entitlement document issued by the central/state government

  • Government-issued marriage certificate 

  • Birth certificate issued by Registrar of Birth, Municipal Corporation, or any other local governmental notified body, such as Tahluk, Tehsil, etc.

  • Discharge slip issued by government hospital upon childbirth

4. Documents required as Proof of Address

Following is the list of documents that can be used as address proof.

  • Voter Id card

  • Driving licence

  • Utility bills (Gas, electricity, etc)

  • Rent agreement 

  • Post office account statement

  • Credit card statement

Documents Required for Aadhaar Card for Child/Minors

The documents needed to issue Aadhaar cards to children are the same as those necessary for any other application. Furthermore, if your child is under the age of five, you are not required to provide his or her biometric data. It can be added after the kid reaches the age of five.
