A traffic violation is a common thing. However, the police and traffic management professionals need to be strict to avoid such incidents on the road. The same is imperative to maintain an effective and healthy traffic system in the country. The system of digital e-challans began with Parivahan. As per this system, several cameras were installed by the roads, at junctions, and at signals to monitor traffic violations.
By using the images captured on these cameras, the e-challan system finds the vehicle number of the offenders. Then, it sends a challan digitally to the mobile number of the owner of the vehicle. People can use the website or app to track their challans online easily. Vehicle owners who are observed violating traffic rules get an e-challan issued against them. The traffic police can remotely fine the wrongdoers and track the challans issued by them more efficiently.
If you’ve been issued an e-challan, it is likely that a traffic camera or police officer has seen you violating traffic rules. However, if you think you have been fined wrongfully, you can file a traffic challan complaint. To do this, you just need to follow a very simple process. Here is everything you need to know about an e-challan complaint.
A wrong e-Challan is issued when the driver of the vehicle has not committed a traffic violation but still receives a challan against them. To contest a wrong e-challan, the vehicle owner can raise a complaint and claim that the traffic violation issued to them was not committed. For this, they need to present evidence of their innocence. With this evidence, the individual can speak to the traffic police and raise a complaint using the grievance system.
If an e-challan has any technical problem, you as a vehicle owner can point it out too. You can do so via email or through a phone call.

You can easily raise an e-challan complaint if you have received a challan on a traffic violation wrongfully. It may take up to 15 days for them to consider your grievance and report back to you.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has provided people with the facility to complain against a wrong traffic challan being issued. Follow these simple steps to raise a wrong challan complaint.

The e-challan portal works the same for every state in the country. The traffic police as well as the vehicle owners from any state can track their challan there. You can also view the ticket status on the grievance system. To do so, follow these steps.
First, you need to open the Parivahan Grievance Ticket Status
Then, open the webpage https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/gsticket/ in your browser
Scroll down and find the tab that says ‘Ticket Status’. Click on this
Mention your e-ticket or e-challan complaint number and fill in the Captcha code
Now click on ‘Check the Status’
You will get the latest status of the grievance displayed on the screen
At times, the traffic police misinterprets the vehicle number from the installed cameras. Usually, the cameras capture the correct traffic rule violators. However, sometimes, the e-vehicle number is blurred, and therefore, the challan is issued wrongly to another vehicle number. This is when the vehicle owner must submit the e-challan complaint. Just like it is important to get a motor insurance plan, it is also essential to report a wrong e-challan.
You can register a complaint for receiving the wrong e-challan. Open the official website of e-challan, fill in the necessary details, and submit the complaint.
You must enter the details such as your name, your contact number, your challan number, etc. You would have received these on your registered mobile number.
Along with the necessary personal and vehicle details, you also need to submit the proof of your innocence along with the complaint.
In case of a wrong e-challan ticket status, you can visit their official grievances portal (https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/gsticket/). You can initiate the tracking process there.
