Know the steps to raise an e-challan complaint if you receive a traffic fine that you believe is incorrect.
*T&C Apply

Traffic violations are monitored across India to ensure road safety. The online e-challan system on platforms like Parivahan allows authorities to issue digital fines for violations.
Surveillance cameras at traffic signals and junctions capture vehicle numbers, and E-Challans are sent directly to the vehicle owner’s mobile number. This digital approach ensures transparency and makes it easier to track fines via websites or apps.
A wrong challan complaint arises when an e-challan is issued incorrectly. This could happen due to technical errors or misinterpretation of vehicle details.
If you receive a fine for a violation you did not commit, you can file a complaint against wrong traffic challan. However, it is essential to have evidence to support your claim before raising a grievance.
If you have received a wrong e-challan, you can file an e challan complaint online or via email. Follow the process below to report the error:
Email: helpdesk-echallan@gov.in
Helpline: 0120-2459171 (6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.)
It may take up to 15 days for traffic authorities to review your grievance and respond.
Visit the official E-Challan website: https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/gsticket/
Click on the ‘Complaint’ tab to access the Grievance System page
Enter your details such as name, contact number, and challan number
Select the type of issue you are facing with the E-Challan
Upload supporting documents as proof of your innocence
Click ‘Submit’ to raise your complaint
After submission, authorities will review the wrong challan complaint and update the e challan grievance status through the portal.
The e challan complaint status can be tracked nationwide through the official portal:
Click on ‘Ticket Status’
Enter your E-Challan or complaint number along with the Captcha code
Click ‘Check the Status’ to view the latest update on your grievance
Monitoring your e challan grievance status ensures timely resolution of any wrongful fines.
Errors in traffic monitoring can result in wrong e-challans being issued. Filing an e challan complaint is important to protect your record and avoid unnecessary penalties.
Along with being vigilant about traffic fines, ensure you maintain valid documents like an RC book, driving licence, and motor insurance. Third-party insurance is mandatory under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, while comprehensive insurance can provide better financial protection for you and your loved ones.
You can register an e challan complaint online through the official portal by submitting your vehicle and personal details along with proof of innocence.
Details such as your name, contact number, vehicle number, and the E-Challan number are required for a wrong challan complaint.
Yes. Along with your personal and vehicle details, you must submit evidence proving that the traffic violation did not occur.
The e challan complaint status can be tracked via the official portal at https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/gsticket/.
The traffic authorities may take up to 15 days to review your complaint and update the e challan grievance status.
