Types of Vehicle Registration at RTO Andhra Pradesh
Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 mandates it for every motorised vehicle to have an RTO Vehicle Registration. There are two types of registration that can be done for a vehicle - temporary and permanent. However, it must be kept in mind that temporary registration remains valid for a period of one month since the date of issue. It cannot be renewed. In order to get vehicle registration in AP, you can visit the nearest AP RTO office.
Temporary Vehicle Registration
It is done by the dealer at the time of purchasing a car and remains valid for one month. Application for the permanent RC must be made within the stipulated time period.
Permanent Vehicle Registration
Under section 39 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1998, the permanent registration of all vehicles that run on the roads must be registered at the RTO. If you want to get a permanent vehicle registration in Andhra Pradesh, go to the RTO Andhra Pradesh office or visit the AP RTO website.
Step 1: Fill up Form 20, which serves as an application form.

Step 3: Provide the list of required documents for the permanent number
i) Form-21: Sales declaration letter from the dealer
ii) Form-60/61 Income Tax Department or GIR or Pan card
iii) Pollution Under Control (PUC)
iv) Declaration by the candidate checked by a Notary, Executive
v) Address proof Any One (Voter ID Card/ LIC Policy/ Passport photos/ Ration Card
vi) Vehicle Insurance Certificate

Functions of RTO Andhra Pradesh
1. Issuing Driving Licence
RTO Andhra Pradesh grants and renews learner, permanent and international driving licences.
2. Registration of Vehicle

3. Tax, fees and penalty collection

6. Renewal of Certificate of Registration

The application must be submitted within 60 days of expiry, else carrying an expired registration certificate is termed illegal and can be heavily penalised.
