Vehicle Registration at Odisha RTO
To drive a vehicle in Odisha, the vehicle should have an Odisha vehicle registration. If you have bought a vehicle from another state and already registered it with that state’s RTO, to drive that in Odisha, registration at the Odisha RTO is mandatory. You can register a vehicle temporarily (issued by the vehicle dealer and valid for one month) or permanently (issued by RTO and valid for 15 years from the date of registration). To register a vehicle at the Odisha RTO, you have to be physically present before the RTO for inspection and submit the required documentation and application forms. The forms and documents required are:
Form 20 or application form for new registrations
Form 21
Form 22A or roadworthiness certificate of the vehicle from the manufacturer
PAN card
Owner’s proof of address
Vehicle insurance documents
For every vehicle registered under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1998 to run on the road, vehicle insurance is mandatory. If you have vehicle insurance, you can avail compensation in case of a road accident that has been caused by a vehicle. There are two types of vehicle insurances; third party policy insurance and comprehensive policy insurance. A third party policy insurance is the cheapest insurance plan and it covers only the damages caused to the third person during the accident and not damage to own vehicles whereas a comprehensive policy insurance covers both third-party and own damages.
The cost of vehicle insurance in Odisha starts from Rs. 2100 as premium and this rate goes up depending on the vehicle, engine capacity, type of insurance and the insurance provider. You can compare and choose a vehicle insurance policy that caters to your needs through Bajaj Markets.
