How to apply for the Critical Illness Plan?

Applying for critical illness insurance is simple and requires you to follow the steps below.

  • Initiate the application process

    An OTP will get generated on your contact number. Enter the OTP to verify your contact details.

  • Make the Premium Payment

    You can make the premium payment amount online using your credit card, debit card, UPI, or mobile wallet.

Eligibility Criteria

You must meet the following parameter to get the Group protect - Critical illness 18 - 50 years coverage:

  • You must be between 18 to 50 years of age as on your last birthday. 

 

What's Covered under the Critical Illness Insurance Cover (18-50 years)?

 

Some of the inclusions of the critical illness insurance policy are mentioned below

 

  1. Critical Illness Lump Sum Payout

The policy covers the below-mentioned critical illnesses:

  • Stroke leading to permanent symptoms

  • Permanent paralysis of limbs 

  • Myocardial infarction (first heart attack of a specific severity)

  • Kidney failure demanding regular dialysis

  • Cancer of a particular severity

  • Major organ or bone marrow transplant

  • Coma of a specified severity

  • Open heart replacement or repair of heart valves

  • Motor neuron disease with permanent symptoms

  • Open chest CABG

  • Multiple sclerosis with persisting symptoms

 

  1. In-patient Hospitalisation

The policy covers expenses relating to day-care treatment or in-patient hospitalisation for the policyholder outside India for any of the critical illnesses specified above, subject to the following conditions:

  • You must opt for treatment in a registered hospital or clinic that fulfils that country's local laws and regulations. 

  • Payments will be made solely only on a reimbursement basis or a cashless facility (where available).

  • For claims processing, the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) exchange rate on the payment date would convert foreign currency amount to INR. However, if the RBI's rate is not published on a specific day, the next exchange rate published by the RBI will be considered.

The critical illness insurance policy comes with the following specifications

 

  • Coverage

A coverage of up to Rs. 1 lakh is offered for a premium of just Rs. 1,188. 

 

  • Validity

The policy has a validity period of one year. 

 

What's Not Covered?

While the critical illness insurance policy covers vast features and offers significant benefits to policyholders, the following features are not covered under this plan

 

  • Other Illnesses

The policy specifically covers critical illnesses. Any diseases or illness other than those stipulated as critical illness is excluded from this policy.

 

  • Pre-existing conditions

Pre-existing or critical illnesses manifested/diagnosed before the inception date are not covered under the policy. 

 

  • Substance use

Critical illnesses arising from the use of/abuse or consequence/influence of substance/drug/hallucinogen/alcohol/intoxicant are not covered under this plan.  

 

Note: The policy comes with a waiting period of 90 days. Additionally, the waiting period relating to a specific illness is 30 days.
