Telangana (TS) and other states of the county have started issuing e-challans for anyone violating the traffic rules. According to the New Motor Vehicles Act of 2019, in TS, e-challans issued by traffic police can range from ₹1,000 to ₹20,000, based on the severity of the violation. 

 

You can pay the TS e-challan online through the official traffic police website or through the Parivahan platform. For offline payments of your TS e-challan, you will have to visit the police station in your vicinity.

Know the 12-point System of the Telangana Traffic Police

Here is the 12-point system of penalties instilled by the Telangana traffic police. If you exceed 12 penalty points under 2 years, your driving licence will be suspended for a year or more. Additionally, if you have a learner’s licence and have earned more than 5 penalty points, you will not be allowed to apply for a permanent licence.

Telangana: 5 lakh challans worth ₹5 crore as penalties paid on day 1 of discounts

 

After three police commissioners in Telangana offered huge discounts on pending traffic challans between March 1-31, 2022, motorists in the state have rushed to clear their unpaid challans to avail these discounts. As per reports, around 5 lakh challans worth ₹5 crore as penalties were cleared on March 1. E-challan traffic inspector M Narsing Rao said that the number of challans paid crossed more than 1,000 per minute during peak hours. He also clarified that these discounted rates are for challans issued till February 28, 2022, and that they will not be applicable for challans issued after March 1, 2022.

Here’s good news for Hyderabad motorists - you can avail a discount on challans accumulated for breaking traffic rules. The city’s 3 police commissioners–Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda–are providing huge discounts on pending traffic challans from March 1, 2022 to March 31, 2022. Two-wheeler owners and autos can get up to 75% off, whereas pushcarts and petty vendors can avail discounts up to 80%.
