About Bombay Stock Exchange

The Bombay Stock Exchange Limited, often abbreviated as BSE, is a stock exchange with its headquarters in Mumbai, India. Established in 1875, it is the oldest stock exchange in Asia and the tenth oldest of all time. The BSE is the ninth-largest by overall market capitalization, standing at ₹255.003 trillion as of October 2021.

BSE was not always so closely associated with Dalal Street, a lane in Mumbai now synonymous with the Bombay Stock Exchange. The first stockbroker meetings in the 1850s took place under banyan trees - in front of the Town Hall, where Horniman Circle is now situated. A decade later, the brokers moved their venue to another set of foliage at the junction of Meadows Street, what is now called Mahatma Gandhi Road.

BSE provides India with its most efficient and transparent market for trading in equity, currencies, debt instruments, derivatives, and mutual funds.

BSE has a diverse portfolio when it comes to providing other services to capital market participants. They offer risk management, settlement, clearing, education, and market data services. BSE is also India’s 1st listed stock exchange.

Being one of India's leading exchange groups, BSE has upgraded its technology to be faster than any other in the world. With a speed of only 6 microseconds, it is one of the quickest exchanges currently on the market. This upgrade is based on the business architecture of global giant Deutsche Börse and is called Bolt Plus.

Products of BSE

There are many types of products distributed by BSE. These include market data products, corporate data products, EOD products, and more. These data products are distributed directly by BSE but are also available through vendors.

Market Data Products: Here, you get access to real-time and snapshot market data feeds of all India’s major indices and stocks. Data is available for all the different BSE trading segments. Equity, derivatives, and indices are all considered market data products.

Corporate Data Products: The BSE holds an expansive and fast-growing archive of corporate data. You can access this data for announcements, results, shareholding patterns, and insider trading.

EOD (End of Day) Products: The market is always changing so it is important to keep up with the latest information, and EOD products help you with that. The Daily EOD bulletin will keep you updated on Indian security market activities, while The Daily EOD Bhav Copy (quotation) will provide you with all trading segments’ quotations.

Historical Data: BSE has a vast amount of historical market data for analyses, forecasts, and trading strategies. Analysts, researchers, and academicians can find it all in one place.
