About Multi-Commodity Exchange of India (MCX)

The Multi Commodity Exchange of India, abbreviated as the MCX, is a commodity exchange based in India and operated by the Government of India. It commenced operations in November, 2003 and is based out of Mumbai. MCX operates similarly to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

 

MCX is an advanced platform where commodities are regularly traded between buyers and sellers. Both hard and soft commodities form a part of the trading system with exceptional delivery processes meeting international standards. While hard commodities include gold, oil or oil, the soft commodities include livestock or agricultural produce.

 

The MCX is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and is India’s largest commodity derivatives exchange. The exchange regulates commodity derivative contract trading across a variety of industries.

Products of MCX

MCX distributes many types of data products. The four prominent types include bullion, base metals, energy, and agricultural commodities. What are the MCX Trading Hours

The Multi-Commodity Exchange operates five days a week from Monday to Friday and is closed on Saturdays like the BSE and NSE. Regarding timings, the morning sessions usually run between 10 AM and 5 PM. The evening session usually commences at 5 PM and goes on till 11:55 PM.

 

Non-agricultural commodities get traded between 10:00 AM and 11:30 PM during the summer months. As for the winter months, this goes up to 11:55 PM.
