Centre launches web-based registration facility for ration cards

11 Indian states and union territories can now access ration card registrations through digital means. The Central Government launched a web-based registration facility for every eligible beneficiary to apply for a ration card. The Food Secretary of India said that this facility aims to assist “states and UTs in expeditiously identifying the eligible beneficiaries” and to issue ration cards for all those eligible to help them “avail their legal entitlement under the NFSA”.

Portal to ensure ration cards for migrant workers: 16 million more likely to be added to the PDS list

In order to offer food grains at subsidised prices to migrant workers, the Central Government aims to launch a new national portal, to ensure their registration onto the PDS scheme. Digitization of Ration Cards completed in all states/UTs; Nearly 19.5 Crores ration cards digitized

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution announced on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, that the digitization of ration cards has been completed in all states and UTs and approximately 19.5 Crore ration cards are now accessible on each state's or UT's transparency portal.


In accordance with the NFSA, an Aadhaar number has already been embedded into 99% of the total 19.5 Crore ration cards. States and UTs have time until September 30, 2022, to finish seeding the remaining ration cards with the Aadhaar cards.
