The Government of India has made it essential to link your Aadhaar card with your bank account as it can be used as an authentic identity and address proof. Nowadays, most banks have made it compulsory for customers to link their Aadhaar card with their account as it can be used to make a number of financial transactions. One such bank is the State Bank of India that advises clients to link their Aadhaar card with their SBI account immediately to conduct banking transactions like cash withdrawals, fund deposits or transfers, and many more without any hassle.
To link your State Bank of India account with Aadhaar, you have two alternatives: linking it through the online method or choosing offline mode. Read on to know the processes involved in both methods.
There is also a possibility to link the Aadhaar number with the SBI bank account online, and that can be done via the SBI website. Here is a detailed process for your reference:
Step 1: Log on to the official SBI website
Step 2: Next, you will see the ‘Announcements’ tab where you have to choose the ‘ Aadhaar linking for SBI customers’
Step 3: Enter your SBI savings account details
Step 4: You now have to enter the captcha code and select the option to receive OTP
Step 5: On the screen, you can now choose to link the card with your account
Step 6: You can expect a validation message on your registered mobile number within a few days
In the absence of net banking, you still have the choice to link your Aadhaar card via the SBI ATM. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Go to any nearby SBI ATM
Step 2: Once in the ATM, use your card and enter the required details
Step 3: On the screen, you will see the ‘menu’ tab displayed from where you can choose ‘registrations’ and then select ‘Aadhaar Registration’
Step 4: Here you have to select the type of your bank account – savings, current, or checking
Step 5: Next, provide your Aadhaar card number two times for verification
Step 6: Your Aadhaar will now be linked to your account
Step 7: You can anticipate a confirmation message via SMS on your registered mobile number
If you operate your SBI account via the mobile app, you can also link your Aadhaar card conveniently by following a few simple steps:
Step 1: First, you have to go to the app and enter your PIN
Step 2: Next, you will see 3 lines on the left-hand corner from where you can choose the option ‘Service Requests’
Step 3: Once you click on the settings, select ‘Manage Profile’ that falls under the personalization tab
Step 4: Finally, provide your Aadhaar number, after which you will receive a confirmation via SMS
Here’s another way by which SBI account holders can link their Aadhaar card to their account – SMS. However, it is to be noted that to avail of this facility, the customer’s mobile number must be registered with the bank to avail of this facility. So let's check out the steps to be followed:
Step 1: Create an SMS from the registered mobile number in the format UID<space><Aadhaar Number><Account Number>
Step 2: Once that is done, send the SMS to the number 567676
Step 3: This will automatically link your Aadhaar card to your SBI account number
Step 4: In case of any error or if your number is not valid, you will be notified by the bank
It is also possible to link your card by visiting the SBI branch in your neighbourhood and doing it in person. Here are the steps to be undertaken:
Step 1: Go to the closest SBI branch along with your Aadhaar Card
Step 2: Next, meet a bank official and fill in an Aadhaar seeding form
Step 3: After doing so, submit your form with a verified copy of the card
Step 4: On completion of the above-mentioned steps, you can expect a confirmation message via SMS within a few days
