The Indian government has made the PMAY list for 2022-23 available on the official website of the housing program on August 22, 2022. The list includes details such as the number of homes sanctioned, number of homes fully constructed, money transferred and other kinds of relevant information. A prospective beneficiary can go and take a look at the same on the website mentioned above, provided they have their PMAY credentials on them.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna is an initiative launched by the Prime Minister of India in June 2015, which is a government-funded scheme, aimed at constructing 2 Crore homes for the urban and rural poor in India, by 31st March 2022. On 11 August 2022, the 2 crore target was revised to 2.95 crores and the deadline was changed to December 31, 2024. Additionally, the Finance ministry has sanctioned a total of ₹48,000 crores for the completion of stalled projects and timely delivery of under-construction homes.

If one is a beneficiary of the scheme, they can easily look up their application status on the official website of PMAY. All he/she will need is the reference number provided to them at the time of them applying.

PMAY-G 'Awaas' Mobile Application (App)

The officials at the helm of the PMAY scheme have released a mobile application for the beneficiaries called ‘Awaas’ so that they can keep a tab on everything related to their PMAY status. Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the Awaas app allows a beneficiary to check their application status as well as the status of the subsidy released. Additionally, the mobile application also lets the relevant parties perform actions such as FTO tracking and uploading of the current status of house construction.

Major Features of the PMAY 'Awaas' Mobile Application

The defining features of the ‘Awaas’ mobile app are as follows:

  • Quick and easy login: To check the PMAY details, the beneficiary will need to perform a one-time registration on the app. From the second time around, all he or she will need to log in is a one time password (OTP)

  • Detailed information: The Awaas mobile application allows the beneficiaries to access information such as the construction status of the house and the information regarding the funds released with the help of a few clicks on their screen. On top of that, beneficiaries can also request for any assistance related to PMAY within seconds thanks to the application.

  • High definition images: The beneficiaries will also get to access quality images of their under-construction property through the mobile software. These images will also have information such as timestamps and geographical coordinates of the house printed on them.

  • Easy navigation: The ‘Awaas’ app is easy to navigate and thanks to its ease of use, the beneficiary can access any information and place any kind of relevant service request within minutes.

  • Data security: The app will only disburse information that is relevant to a user, depending on the kind of user they are. For example, a beneficiary can only access a limited amount of information, and the same goes for the house inspector.

CLSS Helpline Numbers

The CLSS Helpline numbers are as follows:

  • National Housing Board (NHB): 1800-11-33-77 , 1800-11-3388

  • Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO): 1800-11-6163

Latest News for PMAY List

2.17 crore houses and 1,82,506 roads have been sanctioned under PMAY-G and PMAY-S  till January 2022

Under the schemes, not only have projects been sanctioned, but 1.69 crore of the 2.17 crore Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) sanctioned houses have also been completed. Landless beneficiaries received the largest allotment of houses under PMAY-G.

In addition, 1,66,798 roads have also been completed under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gram Sadak Yojana (PMAYGSY). In addition, PMAYGSY has also sanctioned 9,456 long-span bridges (LSBs) of which 6,404 have been completed. The data was released as part of the Economic Survey 2021-22 put forth in Parliament earlier this week.

The Survey report applauded the performance of PMAY-G during 2021-2022, calling it “impressive”. PMAY-G is a government initiative launched by the Prime Minister in 2015, with the task of providing affordable housing to India’s rural and urban poor. Meanwhile, PMAGSY is aimed at developing all-weather roads, operable around the year in order to provide connectivity to rural areas and other settlements with little or no connections. PMAYSG was found to have had a positive impact on human capital formation in the country by a World Bank evaluation conducted in 2019.

Currently, PMAY has generated over 1.2 crores employment opportunities

According to Grant Thornton Bharat's 'Affordable Housing in India' report, the Central Government's main housing initiative, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, has provided over 1.2 crores job opportunities. According to the research, these job possibilities have been established so far through forward and backward links across 21 industries.

The amount of money invested in housing has both direct and indirect impact on other areas of the economy. Because of the extensive interconnection between diverse sectors of the economy, any investment made in one industry has a multiplier impact on other areas, resulting in overall economic growth and job possibilities. This is especially true in the construction industry, which has strong backward and forward links with other economic sectors. In this context, investments undertaken to alleviate the housing crisis have the potential to drive economic growth because the sector is recognised for its ability to generate job opportunities.

While announcing the Union Budget 2023-24, the Finance Minister of India has proclaimed to increase the total allocated fund in the PMAY scheme by 66%. With this, the total allocation for this housing project will become Rs. 79,000 Crores.

Furthermore, the Central Government has also extended the date of accomplishing this ‘housing for all’ project to December 2024. However, there will not be any extension for the CLSS verticals of PMAY.
