The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) aims to promote homeownership in both rural and urban areas by enabling individuals to build or purchase a pucca house. The government offers financial assistance through a PMAY subsidy, making it easier for eligible beneficiaries to achieve their dream of owning a home.
Designed to benefit first-time homebuyers, PMAY provides this subsidy on home loan interest rates. You can claim this subsidy effortlessly, provided your income and the carpet area of the house meet the specified criteria.
The primary objective of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Application Status is to enable beneficiaries to track and verify the progress of their applications. This ensures a seamless and convenient way to monitor updates online.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has four main parts, each designed to meet different housing needs:
This part helps people living in slums by providing them with proper, permanent houses. The aim is to replace slum areas with better housing and facilities.
This is for people who already own land but need money to build or improve their houses. The government offers financial help for construction or repairs.
This helps people who want to buy, build, a house by offering a subsidy on home loan interest rates. It is useful for middle-income families, economically weaker sections (EWS), and low-income groups (LIG).
This part is for families who don’t own land and cannot afford a home loan. Houses are built under this scheme with the help of the government and private builders, making them affordable for these families.
To apply for the PMAY scheme, you must meet the following conditions:
You or your family should not own a pucca (permanent) house anywhere in India
You should not have received any housing benefit from a government scheme before
Your family includes yourself, your spouse, and your unmarried children
Your annual household income should fall within one of these categories:
Economically Weaker Section (EWS): Income up to ₹3 Lakhs
Low Income Group (LIG): Income between ₹3 Lakhs and ₹6 Lakhs
Middle Income Group I (MIG-I): Income between ₹6 Lakhs and ₹12 Lakhs
Middle Income Group II (MIG-II): Income between ₹12 Lakhs and ₹18 Lakhs
If you belong to the EWS or LIG group, you will need to provide proof of income
Priority is given to women, senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, and those belonging to SC, ST, or OBC categories
You can apply for the PMAY scheme under different categories based on your income and housing needs:
If your household income is up to ₹6 Lakhs, you can apply under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) or Low Income Group (LIG) categories
For households with an annual income between ₹6 Lakhs and ₹18 Lakhs, you can apply under the Middle Income Group (MIG-I or MIG-II) categories
If you currently live in a slum, you can apply under the In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR) category to receive a better, permanent house
The PMAY subsidy comes with several advantages to make home ownership more affordable for you:
You can enjoy a lower interest rate on your home loan, which reduces your monthly EMI
The subsidy helps make owning a house more affordable, especially for first-time buyers
Whether you belong to EWS, LIG, or MIG categories, you can benefit from the scheme based on your income group
You can repay the loan over a longer period, up to 20 years, easing your financial stress
Women applicants and co-owners are given priority under the scheme
Special benefits are available for differently-abled individuals, senior citizens, and economically weaker communities

The CLSS (Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme) Awas Portal (CLAP) is a web-based real-time monitoring system designed for CLSS beneficiaries and other stakeholders. It operates under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme, a central sector initiative of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
This scheme comes with interest subsidies on home loans through Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) and Primary Lending Institutions (PLIs) to beneficiaries in the LIG, EWS, and MIG categories for constructing, purchasing, or enhancing homes. Previously, there was no mechanism to track applications or monitor the process. To address this gap, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) developed CLAP after consulting relevant stakeholders.
The platform integrates stakeholders, including MoHUA, CNAs, PLIs, beneficiaries, and citizens, ensuring transparency. It allows beneficiaries to track their application status using a unique ID, starting from submission to subsidy disbursement. The system also sends SMS alerts at every stage of the process.
CLAP simplifies processes like Aadhaar verification and de-duplication, which are now conducted during application submission at PLIs. Additionally, it streamlines application verification, timely subsidy release, and disbursement while reducing inconsistencies. The software is crucial for maintaining transparency and ensuring an efficient subsidy delivery process.
Applications for this subsidy are processed through Primary Lending Institutions (PLIs), such as banks or housing finance companies, and tracked online using the CLSS Awas Portal (CLAP) portal.
Here’s how you can check the subsidy status:
Visit your chosen bank or housing finance company, which is listed as a PLI under PMAY
Submit your application with all required documents, including proof of income, Aadhaar card, and property details
Your unique ID is created
Once accepted, you’ll receive a unique Application ID
The PLI verifies your documents and eligibility
Your subsidy claim is uploaded to the Central Nodal Agency (CNA) by the PLI
The CNA reviews and approves the claim
The approved subsidy amount is transferred to your PLI, reducing your home loan balance
To track your application through CLSS tracker, follow these steps:
Visit the PMAY UCLAP website
Click on application ID on the home page and then click on get status
Enter the OTP you received on your registered mobile number

The Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) is one of the four inclusions of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) that provides interest subsidies on home loans taken by eligible individuals of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG) for the purchase/re-purchase or construction of houses, as well as for incremental housing.
Here are the features of this scheme:
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme is only available if the loan amount is up to ₹6 Lakhs
The maximum subsidy available is ₹2.67 Lakhs
This scheme is only available to applicants looking to buy or build a home
Any amount in excess of ₹6 Lakhs will not be eligible for a subsidy
If a beneficiary family has previously received central assistance from the Government of India under any housing scheme, he/she will be unable to benefit from this scheme
One of the primary benefits of this scheme is that it allows subsidy on home loan, which makes purchasing a house convenient and affordable.
The beneficiary ID is a unique identifier for the CLSS beneficiary of PMAY-U who has taken the subsidy amount into their home loan account. The application ID, on the other hand, is a system-generated number that’s unique for each borrower and is available only upon successful verification with the UIDAI and de-duplication with beneficiaries of other three verticals from the PMAY (U) MIS system.
One of the common reasons why the PMAY application gets rejected is that you might not belong to the eligible income group.
To follow up on your PMAY status, you need to visit the official https://pmayuclap.gov.in/ website and navigate to track your assessment status. Enter your mobile number and assessment ID to proceed.
Typically, you will get approval on your application in 3-4 months.
Yes, you will receive an SMS stating your application status through the CLAP website.
Yes, slum dwellers are eligible to get ₹1 Lakh per house under this scheme.
No, you cannot get the benefits of PMAY twice.
Under the CLSS subsidy, eligible individuals can get home loans at a subsidised interest rate, depending on the category they fall in.
