Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti:

This festival is celebrated to pay homage to the mystic poet, saint and reformer saint Kabirdas. This day was celebrated on a grand scale in the city of Varanasi as it is the birthplace of saint Kabir. As per the Hindu tradition, this day falls on the full moon day of the Jyeshta month. Raja Sankrati:

This festival is widely celebrated across the state of Odisha. It is observed on the first day of the month of Asara. The first day of this festival is called Pahili Raja, the second day is called Raja Sankranti and the third day is Basi Raja. During this three day festival, women take a break from household work and play indoor games. No agricultural activities take place during this festival and people abstain from walking barefoot on the earth. This is to prepare the earth for the coming rainy season.

YMA Day:

The holiday is celebrated in the state of Mizoram and it marks the formation of the Young Mizo Association (YMA). YMA is the largest non-governmental organization of the Mizo people. On the day, social activities like planting saplings, constructing houses for the underprivileged, cleaning villages, etc. are carried out in Mizoram.

Ratha Yatra:

Ratha Yatra, or chariot festival is observed on the second day in the fortnight of Ashadha month. The festival celebrates Lord Jagannath’s visit to Gundhicha temple. In this festival, the deities of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra are taken out for a parade on three decorated chariots, which are pulled through the streets by hundreds of devotees.

Remna Ni:

Remna Ni celebrates the signing of the historic peace agreement between Mizo National Front and the central government. This peace agreement brought an end to the 20-year insurgency in the state.
