What is the Kisan Credit Card Limit?

The Kisan credit card or the KCC is an Indian government scheme launched in 1998 to provide easy access of credit to farmers, thus saving them from the trap of usury. KCC was created by the NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development). With the help of KCC, farmers are eligible for low-interest short term loans from cooperative banks, rural banks, private banks and public sector banks.

While usually the rate of interest is between 2-4%, it varies from bank to bank and is subject to other factors as well. Most farmers avail KCC to take loans to sow crops or buy agricultural equipment, which they repay at the time of harvest. The KCC limit for farmers depends on various factors.

KCC limit for marginal farmers and sharecroppers, is mostly between ₹10,000 to ₹50,000. For other farmers and cultivators, the Kisan credit card loan limit is based on the bank policies, their income, crop patterns etc. In such instances, the maximum Kisan credit card limit may be higher than ₹50,000. There is a provision for a KCC card limit increase at 10% each year for up to 5th year.

Farmers are also eligible for accident insurance of maximum ₹50,000 along with KCC. The Kisan credit card limit varies from bank to bank and generally depends on repayment history, farmer income, crop cultivation patterns etc.

The interest rate also depends on the repayment period. In case of delay in repayment, interest would be compounded. Just like all other loans and finance access, there’s a KCC loan limit.

How to Check the Limit of a Kisan Credit Card?

Kisan credit card Limit can be checked by contacting the Kisan credit card customer care centre of the bank that issued the kisan card. You can also make a visit to the nearest branch of that bank and inquire about the current KCC limit and ways to increase it.
