Closing or foreclosing EMI on a Kotak credit card refers to paying off the remaining instalments of an ongoing EMI plan before its original end date. When you convert a credit card transaction into EMI, the total amount is split into fixed monthly instalments that are added to your card statement. Normally, these EMIs continue until the full tenure is completed.
When you choose Kotak credit card EMI foreclosure, you repay the outstanding principal along with applicable interest and foreclosure charges in one go. This effectively ends the EMI plan early. In contrast, regular EMI completion means you simply keep paying your monthly instalments until the tenure ends.
Kotak also allows EMI closure through Kotak credit card EMI cancellation in specific cases, usually shortly after the EMI is booked. However, once the first few EMIs are billed, the only way to end the plan early is through foreclosure.
