Amazon Pay is a mobile wallet and payment solution developed by Amazon.com, Inc. It is not just used to digitally pay for products bought on the Amazon site or app, but also used to pay for a variety of utilities, services and 3rd party merchants. Electricity bills, mobile recharges, gas cylinders, DTB bills, railway tickets, movie tickets, etc. The list is long and varied.
To be able to use the Amazon Pay service seamlessly, you need to ensure it has sufficient funds in it. This is easily achievable by adding money to Amazon Pay using your credit card. Here’s how you can do it.
Visit the Amazon India website or app
Locate the option of ‘Amazon Pay’ in the main menu and click/tap on it
Locate the option ‘Add Money’ in the main money on the Amazon Pay page
The ‘Amazon Pay Balance’ window will open with some preset amount options like ₹500, ₹1000, ₹2000, and ₹3000. You will also see a text box with free text to add money to Amazon Pay from credit card as per your preference
Select the preset amount option or enter the amount of your choosing and click on ‘Add Money to Balance’
The next window will require you to select a payment method
Here you can choose from an already added credit card or add a new one.
Upon OTP verification, money will be added to your Amazon Pay Balance
There are two types of Amazon Pay accounts. Full KYC and Min KYC. The main difference is that in a Min KYC account you have not completed all the requisite KYC steps required by Amazon, but enough to keep basic services of your account activated.
For a full-KYC account, ₹ 5,00,000 is the monthly maximum limit for adding money to Amazon Pay using credit card. However, the caveat is that at any specific moment of time, the balance should not be in excess of ₹ 1,00,000. In other words, you can load a larger amount if it is to be used for an immediate transaction and thereafter maintain ₹ 1,00,000 as the maximum permissible amount. For a min-KYC account, this monthly limit stands at ₹ 10,000.
There is no minimum amount stipulation.
If you are concerned about paying additional charges for adding money from credit card to Amazon Pay then you can rest assured. Amazon levies no additional charge on this transaction. This means, you can conveniently keep adding money to your Amazon Pay balance using your credit card without paying any extra charges and conveniently pay for the hundreds of thousands of Amazon products and other services without having to enter card details each time. You also stand to benefit by accruing points on using your credit to add money.
No, there are no charges for doing this. You can add an amount based on your card and Amazon account limit without incurring any additional charges.
UPI is linked directly to your bank account. Hence, it cannot be used with a credit card. However, you can conveniently pay your credit card bills using Amazon Pay UPI.
Amazon Pay balance can only be used to pay for products bought and services availed using the Amazon platform. It cannot be transferred back to your credit card or bank account.
If you are a frequent user of Amazon Pay, then this is a very useful option. Instead of having to add money to Amazon Pay from your credit card each time, you can save the setting for a fixed amount to be automatically deducted from your credit card each month. This setting can be changed anytime you wish, through your Amazon Pay settings.
Upon successfully adding money to amazon pay using credit card, the amount is, usually, reflected instantly. In some cases, however, there may be a slight delay owing to technical glitches. Amazon recommends waiting for 15 minutes after completing the transaction. In case the amount doesn’t appear in your balance even after that, you may contact the customer service team.
