Eligible Beneficiaries Under Amma Two Wheeler Scheme
In addition to the eligibility criteria, the Tamil Nadu government has a list of eligible beneficiaries under the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme. These include:
Widows, women in remote areas, those above 35 years and not married, transgenders, women from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes will be given priority.
Women who have to commute a long distance.
Women working in community-based organisations such as panchayat-level federations, village poverty reduction committees, those registered as workers in the organised and unorganised sectors.
Women with any disabilities will be given preference.
Women who are Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers
Women whose income is the primary source of income in a household
Those working in government-aided organisations, shops, establishments, and government projects.
Self-employed women engaged in petty trades.
Reservation Quota for Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme
21% of the allocation will be reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC)
1% of the allocation will be reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST)
4% of the allocation will be reserved for differently-abled applicants across all categories
Benefits of Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme
With this initiative, the Tamil Nadu government is looking to empower the working women in their state, especially those coming from economically backward sections of the society. The benefits of the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme are as follows:
The Amma bike scheme is said to benefit over 1 lakh women each year.
It will cover 50% of the cost of the scooter or ₹25,000, whichever is lower.
The scheme is available to all women in the Tamil Nadu state (rural or urban).
The 50% subsidy is directly credited into the beneficiary’s bank account.
Physically challenged women can avail this scheme for retro-fitted three-wheeler scooters.
Women can apply for a loan to cover the remaining amount or pay it through personal funds.
Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme Application Form
The Amma bike scheme is also popularly known as the Amma Scooter Yojana or the Pradhan Mantri Amma Scooter Yojana. To apply under the scheme, you need to download and fill out the application form. Follow the steps below for the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme online registration.
How to Apply for the Amma Scooter Scheme?
Step 1: Download the application form from the official website (www.tamilnadumahalir.org/). The form is also available at the Block Offices, Urban Local Body Offices, and the Collectorates.
Step 2: Submit the duly filled application form with the respective Block Offices or Urban Local Body Officer in person. You can send it via Speed or Registered Post as well. These offices have dedicated counters that take the applications of the Amma scheme for bikes between 10 am and 5 pm on working days.
Step 3: Once you submit the application, a unique application number will be provided to you along with the acknowledgement receipt. Make sure that you collect a signed acknowledgement receipt from the counter.

Amma Scooter Scheme Application Form for Rural Areas
You can download the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme application form for rural areas by visiting the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women. Once you have downloaded the application form, follow the steps below to fill it:
Step 1: Paste a passport-size photo in the designated area.
Step 2: Fill in the name of your district, block, village panchayat, and other such information.
Step 3: Fill in personal details such as your name, father/husband’s name, sex (women/transgender), permanent address, and other necessary information.
Step 4: Submit details such as the type of scooter you intend to buy, its price, etc. Mention whether you will buy the vehicle with personal funds or a bank loan.
Step 5: Enter the details of the documents that you shall submit along with the application form.
Step 6: Enter the date and place and sign the application form.
Amma Scooter Scheme Application Form for Urban Areas
You can download the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme application form for urban areas by visiting the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women. Alternatively, you can also download it from the official website and follow the steps below to fill it:
Step 1: Paste a passport-size photo in the designated area.
Step 2: Fill in the name of your district, corporation/municipality/town panchayat details, ward, etc.
Step 3: Enter personal details like your name, father/husband’s name, address, date of birth, educational qualifications, and other necessary information.
Step 4: Add details of your driving licence or learner’s licence, type of two-wheeler you intend to buy, invoice quotation of the bike, bank details (if availing a loan), account details, etc.
Step 5: Select ‘Yes’ for supporting documents.
Step 6: Enter the date and place and sign the application form.
Subsidy (Free Amount) Claim Form
Once you receive the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme registration certificate, the subsidy will be released by the authorities and deposited in your loan/bank account. You can easily download the subsidy claim form from the official website (https://www.tamilnadumahalir.org/tnatws.html) and fill it in the following way:
Step 1: Enter the application number provided to you while submitting the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme application form. Furthermore, fill in personal details such as name, father/husband’s name, address, type of the vehicle manufacturer, etc.
Step 2: Enter the registration number, date of registration, driving licence details. Moreover, mention whether you have purchased the vehicle with personal funds or a loan. If you have availed a loan, specify the loan account details as well.
Step 3: Input your bank details such as account number, account type, account holder's name, branch, and IFSC code. Mention the on-road price of the vehicle and the subsidy amount as well.
Step 4: Enter the date and sign the claim form. Make sure you get the form signed by the bank manager or the finance company along with their stamp.
