My Account
PAN is an acronym for Permanent Account Number and is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric string of characters issued by the government of India to every taxpayer. It is essential to pay taxes, file income tax returns, open an investment account under various government schemes and claim deductions thereon. The Permanent Account Number is issued to applicants in the form of a PAN card.
If you do not have a PAN card yet, you need to get one immediately, so you can benefit from this essential proof of identification. You can apply for a PAN card either online or offline. If you prefer doing things online, you can get your PAN card through the Common Services Center (CSC) or the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) website, or the website of UTI Infrastructure and Technology Services Limited (UTIITSL). Alternatively, it is also possible to apply for your PAN card offline.
Check out the detailed step-by-step guide to apply for a PAN card via the Common Services Center (CSC) in the sections below.
Under the supervision of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the Indian Income Tax Department issues permanent account numbers (PAN) as an identification document. It is a unique ten alphanumeric character. An individual can apply for a PAN card through Common Service Centers (CSC). The card is mandatory for various services and departments like Payment of Income Tax, Opening of D-MAT A/c, payments/refund of TDS, etc.
You can approach the nearest Common Service Centres (CSC) to apply for your Pan Card. A CSC Operator or a Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) will fill out an application form on your behalf. The PAN obtained through the CSC portal is called CSC PAN Card.
Here are the steps that need to be followed by the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) to fill out the PAN card application form:
Step 1: VLE needs to log in to the website with the credentials, i.e., the registration ID and password.
Step 2: Next, he/she needs to fill out the application form by entering the correct details of the applicant.
Step 3: In this step, the VLE will upload your photo, signature, PAN form, and other supporting documents.
Step 4: Once the documents are uploaded and submitted, VLE shall make the payment using the preferred mode.
Step 5: Once that is done, he/she will produce an acknowledgment slip.
Step 6: Finally, at regular intervals, the VLE will create a batch that has at least one active application.
Step 7: At the end of the month, the hard copies of PAN cards will be sent to the respective address through courier.
The same procedure applies to CSC UTI PAN.
Here's the list of documents that are required to be submitted to the VLE Village Level Entrepreneur:
Residence Proof
Identity Proof
Passport size photographs
The following are the documents that are required to be submitted as identity proof:
Voter ID card
Aadhaar card
Driving licence

An applicant should submit the scanned copies of the following documents as address proof:
Voter ID card

Yes, CSC can make PAN cards. CSC is the platform where the Village Level Entrepreneurs or VLEs may conduct all their work and carry out activities to serve the local community.
You can apply and check the Pan card application status online by visiting the websites of the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and UTI. UTI PAN cards are those issued by UTI Infrastructure Technology And Services Limited (UTIITSL). Both UTI and NSDL work under the Income Tax Department of India and take the same processing time for PAN applications.
