1. Online method

  • Log onto the official website of TIN-Protean eGov Technologies Limited and navigate to the section on online application for PAN. The website is https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html

  • Once here, choose the option ‘Reprint of PAN card’. This option can be chosen if your PAN Card was stolen, lost, or misplaced.

  • On clicking the link mentioned above, you will be directed to a different page, where you need to click on the ‘Online Application for changes/correction in PAN data’ link.

  • Here one can go through the guidelines mentioned on the page and choose the type of PAN they lost - individual, company, firm, HUF, etc.

  • At this stage, the individual can fill up the lost PAN card application form

  • Here one needs to fill in their personal details like their lost pan card number, name, communication address, telephone number, email id, etc.

  • Also, documents like photographs and ID proof need to be submitted along with the lost pan card application form, with an applicant expected to sign it before submission.

  • Also, attach the FIR with the documents if it is a case of theft.

  • A one-time payment of ₹107 is required to be paid if you are a resident of India or ₹989 if you are living outside India can be paid either through a credit card, debit card, net banking, or demand draft.

  • A confirmation number will be generated upon successful payment, which can be used for any subsequent correspondence.

  • Once all the information and documents are received and verified, a duplicate PAN with the same pan number will be delivered to the address in about two weeks.

2. Offline method 

  • If your PAN Card is lost or stolen, the first step is to immediately file a complaint at the nearest police station. Do remember to take a copy of the complaint or the FIR.

  • The individual needs to then head to the nearest PAN or NSDL TIN Facilitation Centre and request a form 49A

  • The applicant must then fill out the form carefully to avoid any errors, put a passport-sized picture on the right-hand side corner and sign the form.

  • To submit the form, the applicant must provide a request form addressed to the IT department, one passport-size photo, an identification and address proof document along with a copy of the FIR 

  • The lost pan card application form needs to be posted to NSDL, along with the necessary documents and a demand draft or cheque for the payment

  • Send all the above-mentioned documents to the following address:
